If you have any problems or any further questions - please call 0161 626 2642. Friendly operators are waiting to take your call 7 days a week, between 8:30am and 11pm. If we do not manage to take your call please leave us a message or contact us.

does it hurt

The most common question.

It's not that bad, although you can expect a paintball to sting (comparative to a thick rubber band snap to the back of the neck, but wherever you are hit) The fear of physical pain which causes ones adrenaline to flow and actually makes the game more exciting. 99.9% of 11 year olds see this pain as bearable and have a good time. All players have the option to wear additional chest and back protection but adult males usually choose not to take this in the interest of keeping cooler during the games.

Above all, our paintball games are designed with everbody in mind, more timid players can take up less exciting positions in the arena, the John Rambo types tend to be in the middle taking paint from everybody. Its sometimes a great spectical from the viewing area. We use a more fragile paintball than other paintball sites.

We operate a list of game rules which each player must follow in the interest of every players enjoyment. Games are always fully supervised by our trained staff who will remove any player who breaks these rules, ensuring the game is based on fun and never gets out of hand.

What should I bring with me on the day?

Players should wear old, comfortable clothing (Younger players are advised to wear an old hoddie) and may also want to bring a change of clothes for the conclusion of the game. Most players wear old trainers but people who may require more ankle support may choose to wear boots. You may also want to bring some money for purchasing additional paintballs (we accept cash and credit/debit cards verified by PIN only).

If you have booked other than calling 0161 626 2642, you have booked with an agency. Agencies follow "the industry standard" because they supply customers to many different paintball sites. The industry standard for paintball equipment does not include gloves and body armour because the majority of other paintball sites consider these items as optional extras. Therefore you have the option of renting our paintball gloves and body armour.

If you have booked direct with Manchester Paintball Arena on 0161 626 2642, you do not need to bring gloves with you or pay extra to hire these items as Manchester Paintball Arena is the only paintball site in the north west of the UK which include free glove hire and body armour as part of our packages. Another reason to book with Manchester Paintball Arena.

Can I bring paintball equipment?

You can bring your own paintball equipment to the site, but you must call Manchester Paintball Arena if you are bringing you own paintball gun. You must turn up 30 miniutes earlier than normal arrival time so we can inspect you equipment and chronograph your gun to our required level. Failing to turn up early will mean we will not have the time to do this as our staff will be busy with other duties. It is always at the discretion of the staff at Manchester Paintball Arena as to whether you can use it. You can bring a paintball mask, provided they are designed for paintball games and have not been modified in any way. We do not allow co2 on site. You must use one of our air cyclinders.

Can I bring my own paintballs?

NO.

Our paintballs are sourced for our specific requirements, less greasy fill and fragile shells. This is a health and safety matter. The paint in our paintballs will not make the floor as slippy as cheap paint purchased from ebay or other online paintball shops.

Any player found with as little as one paintball in a hopper will be treated as a thief and removed from site.

When you play at a site and you buy paintballs, you are not just buying the paintballs. You are buying the rent, rates, insurance, marshals, laundry and maintenence, advertising, etc, etc.

When you buy paintballs from a shop, you are buying the paintballs.

Next time you are at a pub, see if you can sneak in your own lager, and whilst you are at it, have the barmaid bring you over the remote for the pubs sky tv, make sure you use one of their glasses as you sit next to the lovely warm fire...I am sure you get the drift.

How many paintballs will I use?

This depends on how trigger-happy you are. It is entirely up to each person how many paintballs they want to use. You can purchase paintballs at the site throughout the day, during the breaks between games. We consider 500 paintballs per person, the average paintball use on a half day session. This will be too many for some younger players. If you are concerned about younger players using their allocated paint too quickly, ask the staff for help with this. We can give your junior paintball group, one tube (100 balls) at a time to try and help slow them down!

Is paintball suitable for children?

Generally parents are concerned about this more than the children. We have entertained thousands of children over the years and in all this time only had one child who chose to not continue in the games. Parents need to know about the nature of the activity and decide for themselves whether their particular child is hardy, and mature enough to participate in paintball. Please feel free to call Manchester Paintball Arena on 0161 626 2642 for specific advice. Please also see the FAQ concerning 'Minimum Age' below, for more information.

Please bear mind that the safety of all our guests is our main priority and if a member of your group is removed from the game, it is for the best, and you must trust our judgement on the matter. Please do not ask any member of staff to allow a player back into the game who has been previously removed.

What is the minimum age?

The minimum age to play on our regular indoor paintball sessions is 11 years old and in high school. This means that we consider the event to be suitable for 12th birthday parties. The equipment and level of supervision provided by Manchester Paintball Arena makes paintball safe for any age of player - so it's not the 'danger' involved that determines our age limit - rather the fact that the equipment is quite heavy, and it's all a bit scary for very young children. Also we want players to enjoy the experience, not get removed from the game.

Even adults find the hairs on the back of their necks standing-up when a wave of 'enemy' players surges towards them, guns blazing. Please call Manchester Paintball Arena if you would like to view one of our games in action, before you decide if the activity is suitable for you.

Parents with younger players may be more interested in our Laser combat games.

NEW!!! PAINTBALL FOR 8 YEAR OLDS.

Low-Impact paintball available for private groups of 10 players or more!

What food and drink is available at the centre?

We have various snacks inc chocolate and crisps and sell cold drinks plus tea and coffee. McDonald's and Subway are only 2 minutes away by car, but we also cook pizza onsite. You can pre-order this on our website when booking.

For a local pub, we would recommend the Boat and Horses which is only 2 minutes drive away.

Please keep in mind when ordering food to be delivered to site, that we do not have a significant lunch break. We do have short intervals between games, but we must continue our paintball games program regardless.

Can we bring alcohol to the centre?

No alcohol is permitted on site. Any players who have been drinking will be excluded from the games and asked to leave the site.

What happens on the day?

On arrival, you will be greeted by our friendly staff who will check you in, you will be kitted up with all the gear needed for the day and then your group (4 players or more) will be divided into two teams, red team and blue team. It is the policy of Manchester Paintball Arena that your group must be divided. The makes the games much more fun and the teams of even ability, and of course it is much more fun to shoot somebody that you know! All players then fill out registration forms and are issued their gun number before they undergo a compulsory safety briefing. Then the action starts! You will play around 8 games during a half day session, with short refreshment breaks in between purchase any extra paintballs and discuss tactics! And generally have a good laugh in the mask cleaning area. We are a very fun and social paintball site.

Do I need to fill out a registration form?

All players are required to complete a registration form before they begin play. Players under 16 years must have their form signed by an adult; we suggest you send these out with your invitations, please ask paintball booking staff to send to these in advance. Any form that is signed off-site must be co-signed by an attending adult in front of Manchester Paintball Arena staff to confirm that the (under 16 years) player has not signed the form themselves.

how many players do i need to bring

There is no minimum number of players required on our weekend paintball games. We regularly have individuals and small groups play on our weekend sessions which are very sociable and a great laugh. Any junior players in small groups will be looked after by there personal team marshal who will make them not feel singled out in the crowd. Midweek games require a minimum of 10 players or 4 players on at least a 500 ball package each.

Will my child be playing with adults?

There often groups of mixed ages (when parents like to play with their children, or there are older siblings joining in etc). This should not be a concern as all games are fully supervised and a paintball from and adult feels the same when it hits you as a paintball from a child. If anything the junior players are at an advantage due to there size and fitness. If in any dowbt about this please call the site manager who will reassure you or come and visit one of our scedualed games to see the fun environment that we operate.

I'm not sure how many players I have, but I want to book now so that I don't miss out on the date I want. What should I do?

We operate a live booking diary on our website. There maybe a chance you can add players to your booking if there is still available space but not guaranteed. To add players to an existing booking; please instruct the extra players to book on the website and in the "additional information" section, advise us which group booking they are part of.

What do I do if I get lost trying to find Manchester Paintball Arena?

To avoid getting lost we suggest you make sure all drivers in your group print the directions from the website and take these with them. Our directions are for guidance only, we recommend using a road map for more precise directions. If you do have trouble finding the centre, call us as soon as you are unsure, not 30 minutes after you got lost!

If you have come via the M60 and driven more than 2 minutes after leaving the motorway you are lost, as we are literally two turns and half a mile from the M60 junction 21.

Please note: If you think you may have trouble finding us please call us in advance of you arrival time so we can assist you, as any late arrivals will usually not be able to participate and will lose their deposit. 0161 626 2642

what happens if it rains

Nothing we are indoors and not affected by any British weather. Please bear in mind the cold, rain and mud you will encounter at outdoor paintball sites are free of charge!

What happens if a player does not turn up on the day if I have already paid for them?

In the interest of all concerned we do not offer refunds of any deposits. If we did, the deposit becomes pointless and the number of no-shows on the day would dramatically rise which would jepordise the long term future of the paintball site and ruin the experience for everbody on the day, due to lack of players.

Can I use the paintballs if a player does not turn up on the day if I have already paid for them?

If you have booked direct with Manchester Paintball Arena there are no paintballs included in the deposit. Any vouchers act as a deposit and become void if the player in question fails to show for their booking.

We do accept booking from various different agencies that wish to use our facilities such as Ministry of Paintball, Nationwide Paintball, Goballistic Paintball, Uk Paintball, Matrix Paintball, Red7 etc. Some of the vouchers/tickets from these companies will allocate a per person paintball allocation as part of the ticket/voucher. These paintballs are considered part of the player deposit and as such remain the property of Manchester Paintball Arena if or any reason a player fails to attend.

Manchester Paintball Arena do not make any money from these tickets but choose to accept these players in the interest of word of mouth/repeat business (we hope your experience at the centre convinces you to book direct next time)
